Associate Director (Finance Office - Medical Center)
JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary: Under general direction, is responsible for the management of daily operations of the Medical Center finance office for academic and research areas; develops financial reports; coordinates department's processing/analyzing financial documents for the Medical Center for sponsored programs, surveys, commitment/procurement, and University budget; oversees staffing activity for positions within the department; participates on committees to investigate, develop, and implement various University standards and policies.
CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include any and/or all of the following:
- Manages daily operations of Medical Center finance office; assists staff, business managers, and directors to resolve special concerns and issues.
- Develops financial reports for capturing academic and research activity in the Medical Center; prepares quarterly and ad hoc reports.
- Oversees the processing of internal financial documents submitted to the Medical Center finance office, including travel documents, direct payment vouchers, on-line purchase requisitions, inter-departmental orders, foreign travel requests, labor reallocations, etc, ensuring compliance with agency and University policies.
- Oversees preparation of School of Medicine surveys for external organizations; serves as primary liaison with various agencies requesting survey information.
- Assists in monitoring of Medical Center departments' and schools' hard dollar, designated and restricted financial activity throughout the fiscal year.
- Oversees staffing activity for positions within the department, ensuring adequate staffing within the office and adherence to policies, procedures, deadlines, and other regulatory requirements of the University.
- Contributes to various University committees as a representative of the Medical Center Finance Office.
- Supervises the processing of Sponsored Program documents for the Medical Center, including grant applications, fund and budget requests for awarded projects and documents for the duration of the projects.

Education and experience equivalent to:
Bachelor's degree; supplemented with five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience, which includes supervisory experience. Prior experience in an academic health center or school of medicine strongly preferred.
