All about Beauty ? Basic Steps for Good Skin Care
At the end of my article in the last edition of The Informer I mentioned the three basic steps for good skin care. I thought I would delve a little deeper into this subject.
The first step is CLEAN. If you want nice, smooth skin this is a necessity. Everyone should go to sleep at night with clean skin. While you sleep your body is getting rid of toxins and repairing itself. A clean face will aid the process, and help keep skin problems away. I have women who tell me that they are ?too tired? to take their makeup off at night. They pay for it! Then, when you get up in the morning you need to clean again. I hear you asking WHY? Because you want to start the day with a clean slate!
Remember those toxins I mentioned? Where do you think they are now? In addition to twice daily cleansing, be sure you use a cleanser to suit your skin type. Someone with dry, sensitive skin shouldn?t be using a harsh cleanser, and likewise, someone with oily skin is not going to get rid of that oil with a gentle cleanser developed for someone else?s skin.
Second, EXFOLIATE! There are many products now for this purpose. And the purpose is to rid your skin of dead skin cells and speed up the reproduction process. Cell renewal is important for that smooth complexion that you want. You can use a gentle exfoliator or microdermabrasion, or several products in between. I am going to tell you a secret that most skin care specialist will not tell you because we do like to sell you our products. However, one of the things you can exfoliate your face and entire body with is most likely right in your pantry. Sugar! That?s right, plain ole table sugar. One of the many products flooding the market right now are sugar scrubs. Add table sugar, just a little for the face, while you are cleaning your face and watch your skin glow. If you have dry or sensitive skin just don?t scrub hard, be gentle.
Third step is MOISTURIZE! Make sure your moisturizer is developed for your skin type and contains sunscreen. Even oily skin needs moisture. It just needs one that is developed for oily skin.
Some of us need more than basic skin care, such as eye treatments, skin firming products, wrinkle correctors, and many more. I wish I had known about good, basic skin care when I was in my teens. Maybe I wouldn?t need all these extra products to correct the damage to my skin during those years.
