Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid told reporters on Tuesday before the GOP debate in Las Vegas that parts of 2012 GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain?s signature ?9-9-9? tax plan ?make sense.? But he added that it is ?very difficult? to grasp what Cain has proposed in ?little soundbites? from debates.
?I heard a presentation on that this morning, and there are parts of it that make sense, parts of it that don?t,? Reid said at the Capitol. ?But with taxes, you have to make sure that it makes sense.
?What people don?t understand is that Mr. Cain has not only the six ? I?m sorry ? the 9-9-9, but he also has a followup, some kind of a flat tax. And when you get to that, it creates a number of problems when you complicate it with what he?s already done. So in short, I think it?s something we?ve just started learning about.?
